It was a cold and wintry day the day that I decided to stroll the local beach. It was the school holidays and we had driven down the coast for a little term break.

I had no idea that that day was going to be the beginning of a brand new adventure, one that would have me wandering the southern shores beaches for the rest of my life.

Why? You ask. That day I found my very first piece of sea glass. And ...

It was LOVE at first sight!

Years later and the proud owner of a rather generous collection of sea glass, pottery shards and coastal paraphernalia, Southern Shores Sea Glass would like to share its knowledge surrounding this sea glass beach treasure.

Not every beach is a sea glass beach and certainly a country like Australia with a fairly young history of settlement, the yields are fairly scant - unless you are lucky.

This section of the website will discuss sea glass topics such as ...

  • sea glass beaches near Melbourne, Australia
  • Seal Rock, my favorite place to collect sea glass
  • The Glass Beach in Robe, South Australia
  • Magic find in Akaroa, New Zealand
  • What are Mermaid's Tears
  • The terminology Neptune's Necklace
  • Sea Pottery- Potsherds
  • sea glass books
